"Singing and acting talent stimulated to the extreme."

It's the younger Serbian tenor Stevan Karanac who delivers a highly personal and characterful performance in this challenging role, one that everyone hopes to hear again from Luciano Pavarotti. This must make it particularly challenging for any tenor to take on this role. Karanac embraces it with ease, singing with remarkable ease and a facial expression that perfectly captures the perversity that characterizes the Duke's behavior. It's hard to believe he's singing this role for the very first time in this production.
